This test is recommended for individuals who experience symptoms such as persistent pain, redness, swelling or warmth in a particular part of your body. Inflammation symptoms can be caused by various items such a injuries, infections, arthritis or inflammatory conditions and risk factors like obesity or smoking.

The Inflammation test provides an assessment of your body’s C-Reactive Protein (CRP) and Vitamin D levels, both which contribute to inflammation in the body.

  • Multiple tests including hs-CRP

  • About the test
C-Reactive protein (CRP) is produced by the liver and released into the bloodstream in response to inflammation caused by an injury or infection. Our panel tests for High-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) levels which provides a more precise assessment than a standard CRP test. While it is common to have low levels of hs-CRP, levels are known to increase in response to inflammation caused by an injury, diseases, or autoimmune conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). Symptoms of high CRP levels can include, fatigue, muscle aches and stiffness, headaches, low grade fevers, and/or loss of appetite.

Inflammation is involved in many chronic diseases and there is concern that vitamin D deficiency has a role in activating the inflammatory process. Vitamin D is needed for optimal immune performance and lowers inflammation. Vitamin D has proven to have a negative correlation to CRP levels. Thus, if Vitamin D levels are low, you are more likely to have a higher level of CRP.

The test is designed to provide you with your levels of both Vitamin D and hs-CRP, but should not be used to self-diagnose an underlying diseases. Levels of CRP may decrease with a high fiber and heart-healthy diet and exercise. Please consult your doctor for additional information.

This test is not permitted in AK, AZ, HI, NJ and RI.
