Celiac Disease Screening Test

Celiac Disease Screening Test
This test is recommended for individuals who have a family history of celiac disease and are experiencing symptoms which may include abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, weight loss, and fatigue.
The test provides a measurement of your total immunoglobulin A (IgA), tissue transglutaminase immunoglobulin A (tTG-IgA), and Deamidated gliadin peptide immunoglobulin G (DGP-IgG) levels. All which are antibodies that can serve as indicators of celiac disease, an autoimmune disease where ingestion of gluten can lead to damage to the small intestine.
It is important to note that while this test can serve as an indicator of celiac disease, is is not definitive and a small intestine biopsy may still be required for conclusive reports. Additionally, if an individual has a IgA deficiency, it can lead to false-negative results.
